Kelch Aviation Museum
Reception April 12, 2026 from 1-3pm, with an artist’s talk at 2pm.
“The Sky’s the Limit” is my second solo show. This collection of 35 art quilts is comprised of two distinct but coordinating groups. The first group of 22 were made for a 2017 exhibit, “Flying Solo”, at the College Park Aviation Museum in College Park, MD, based on their collections.
I have also included 13 new art quilts based on the collections at Kelch Aviation Museum. I allowed myself to be a little more whimsical and surrealist. I found myself drawn to fabrics with images of the open sky and clouds. A sense of freedom, or perhaps escape, emerged early in my designs. I played with background and foreground in some pieces, placing a sky print where a propeller might go. I instinctively chose five pointed-star prints and star designs, perhaps because of the United States 250th anniversary? The stars were soon joined by other astronomical themes, like moons and suns. I thought of song titles about flying, and the idea of “the music of the spheres,” so musical fabrics made an appearance in several compositions.
I love the sense of freedom and playfulness I have created in my new works. I hope these quilts will let your imagination fly!

RiverSong
I have an art quilt traveling with Studio Art Quilt Associates WI/IL regional exhibit called RiverSong.
The Mississippi River Basin is a vast and intricate watershed that spans one-third of North America, shaping the landscape and influencing ecosystems, economies, and human activities across its expansive reach. It’s one of the largest drainage systems in the world, covering 1.2 million miles. It encompasses a network of rivers, tributaries, and waterways that ultimately converge into the mighty Mississippi River.
Explore work inspired by the basin that embraces its history, archeology, culture, geologic formation and commerce. Join us for a visual symphony that celebrates the intricate dance between water and life within the expansive embrace of the Mississippi Watershed.
